You haven’t gotten rid of us yet

So, here’s our day …..

We’re in Phoenix, and we’re all prepared to take off tomorrow, for California, the first leg of our summer adventure, our journey to Montana.  Montana is the gateway for our Alaska Caravan.  63 days in Alaska and Western Canada.  I know you know this, because Pete and I can’t stop talking about Alaska.

What is it they say, man plans and God laughs?  We’re not sure how much of a laugh God is having right now, hopefully it’s just a little giggle, and not a “shake like a bowl full of jelly” laugh, but it’s enough that we’re changing plans.

There will be no California tomorrow for us.

I also know you know how much I hate changing plans.  Changing plans is the nemesis of a planner – and I am a planner, through and through.  Sometimes you have no choice and life happens.

Tomorrow we’re driving back to Tucson – hopefully for just one week.

What happened today?  Why the sudden change of plans?

Pete’s injured. Not quite down for the count injured, but down.  He may have ripped a tendon in his bicep.  Or maybe he just tore it.  Or … maybe it’s just angry and needs some ice (fingers crossed it’s this last one!).  His one bicep rivals Popeye’s.  Sad part is, there is no awesome back story for the injury – just old age, or maybe tied to a previous injury.  Nobody knows! Urgent Care was not a lot of help.  He’s in way too much pain. And, of course, it’s Friday afternoon and we’re somewhere unfamiliar.

Tucson is too close to ignore. It’s a safe haven for us – our doctors are there, we know the hospitals, friends everywhere if we need help, etc, etc.  If he’s in this much pain tomorrow, I think we’ll be at Oro Valley ER after we park the RV.  Definitely an appointment with the orthopedic next week.

We’re not giving up on Montana and Alaska.  As a planner, I can’t give up on plans until there is no hope.  Today we have hope …. and we have time.   Our Alaska trip doesn’t leave for two months.

We’re coming back home Tucson – you haven’t gotten rid of us yet!  Hmmmm, I wonder if this is God’s way of saying “Pick Tucson”…….

In the meantime, enjoy all the smiling faces we saw in San Antonio, Tucson and Phoenix the last 6 weeks.  Our friend & family love tanks are overflowing!

Please, please, please, say a prayer for Pete. Send positive thoughts out to the universe.  Watch the blog for updates.

We love you all!

Ouch! Hope Pete is on his way to healing! Keep my fingers crossed no surgery is involved! Prayers too!

    • Hi Jeanne. Elbow specialist is sending him for an MRI. He felt around in the joint and “thinks” the tendon might be still attached, which might mean no surgery. Waiting on the MRI and have a follow up with elbow guy next Monday! Fingers crossed still!
