Moh Beel

We finally left Florida.  I do like Florida, but damn, it was a cold, wet winter here.   I feel like we saw everything, my gosh, we’ve been here, traveling around the state, since October.  We had some great tourist days, connected with friends and enjoyed time with family.

We’re working our way back to Arizona. First stop … Mobile, Alabama.  Moh Beel, rhymes with “wheel”.  Saying that just makes me smile for some reason!  😊

Our Mobile campground had a sign, it said not to harass the alligators.  “Harass”? Maybe if I yelp, jump and hustle my ass backward, I might startle them with all that commotion, but harass?  I want to believe there was a similar sign under the water that told the alligators not to harass the people.  What’s fair is fair!

For those of you following the saga of where Mary & Pete will end up when this adventure is all over, you know that Mobile has been Plan A since we accidentally encountered it last year.   We’ve been here almost two weeks, checking out the area, making sure it’s still right for us.  We’re happy to announce, Mobile is still Plan A.  We’ll be back in December and our thought is to rent for a year – or at least through a summer – just to make sure we don’t melt in the humidity or wash away with the rain. Our desire has always been warm weather near water, which naturally means humidity and rain, but almost 20 years in the desert has us quite spoiled when it comes to beautiful weather, so we need to be really sure we can adjust!

You know what else makes me smile about Moh Beel?  It’s 3 skyscrapers.  I always joked about Tucson and it’s 5 tall buildings. Don’t blink as you drive by on I-10, I would say.  Since I’m a Chicago and Philly girl, with their countless skyscrapers, I can make fun!  But 3?!?  That’s just more fun to see than Tucson!   But, hey, 3 is enough to call it “downtown”!  And they are 3 pretty buildings.  They’re lit up at night.  They create a skyline, and it’s Mobile.  We like it!

Today we’re on the road, heading to San Antonio and a fun couple days with the nieces!  Then it’s Tucson through April, and come May, our 2024 adventure begins.  Our Tucson calendar is fully booked with family, friends and doctor appointments.  We’re excited to be home again …. where everybody knows our name …… and where we can get around without the GPS running all the time!

  6. I think it’s very wise to spend time in Mobile before you make a final decision.

We will see you soon. Let us know if there is anything you need on this end.

    I’m praying you home!

    • Your prayers have worked! We’re here and looking forward to seeing you and Hugh again! Thanks for always thinking of us and keeping us in your prayers.

  7. Well, as a Huntsville resident coming up on a year now, I can say at least one summer here was fine without the six months of 100+ we had in Tucson and the few days of humidity weren’t even noticeable. Come on back. It’s fine here.

    • What??? Huntsville? When did you move? Why did you move? This is all new and exciting news to me! Huntsville is pretty far north in AL, Mobile is pretty far south. The internet pictures of Huntsville look really nice. You’ll have to tell me all about it.

  8. A warm welcome back home. I know your stay will be full, so a quick hi and let me know if you get to OVCC.

    • Thanks so much for coming out yesterday. We only got half a game in together, but it made my day! Thanks!

  9. Glad you are coming home to Tucson! I guess, if you must make Mobile your new home, we will just have to visit!

    • I am certain you will come visit, no matter where we move to! 🙂 Glad we got together Monday, flooded roads be damned!
