We’re full

We spent the week in Philly.  Our old stomping grounds – me for 13 years, Pete for 37.  We pulled into town with a pretty simple To Do list…..

  • See family.  We connected with 18 of them.  They are not all local, only 6 of them are local, but a family event (other than the excitement of us being in town) brought in sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.  All the hugs and laughs were heartwarming.  Family tank is full.  Check!
  • See friends.  8 were available and made time to gather together with us.  More hugs, more laughs.  It is uplifting when you can see dear friends after years and years (or decades) of being away, and just pick up right where you left off.  Friend tank is full.  Check!
  • Eat all our favorite Philly foods.  We were very successful at this one.  Maybe too successful. There is 2.3 lbs more of me to love now!  Belly is full.  Check!

We’re full, in all the best ways!  We’re tired too, but that’s OK because we will hold the memories of this week in our hearts for a long time.  We love you, family, friends …. and cheesesteaks, and Rita’s, and pretzels, and Italian hoagies, and tomato pie and Wawa and… and … and …..

We hope you enjoy the photograpic stroll down memory (and gastronomic) lane.

Today we’re on the road to New York (and hopefully a salad or two).  Bye Philly, until next time!

Love this…and especially since I spent 1.5 years there myself….you kmow me, a few questions…..

where is uour fav cheesesteak and what do you put on it….

Where are those fabulous murals, love them

Did you get to Lawrenceville or the one on the Jersey side who’s name escapes me…

    And a few comments.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen you in a dress

And goodness your hair is long, love it! Alsmots reminds me of fresh,an year! and now I realize it’s been pulled back in most of the pics so far this year….I thought you might have chopped it off, thinking it would be easier on the road …..which begs another question….do you get it cut while on your journey or just let it do it’s Thang?

And oh the Amish, I’d forgotten about them…love seeing them and imagining their life….hate being behind them on a hwy!

Glad friends and family talk is full….and food is important….especially comfort foods you love 💜 and don’t have but every 17 years!

    • Hi Elizabeth. We got cheesesteaks from a place local to Pete’s brothers house. I don’t really have a favorite, because when we lived there, I didn’t really eat them too often (always trying to watch that damn figure!). But now, no rules! I eat what I want. 🙂 But in the “Pats” vs “Gino’s” competition, I like Pat’s best. Delasandro’s is another local favorite. I like mine with grilled onion and mushrooms. Pete likes sweet peppers on his. His best friend likes lettuce and tomato. So, you be you when it comes to cheesesteaks!

The murals are in Harrisburg. The dress was for the family event, I wanted something comfortable, long and flowy. And yes, the hair is long and unruly. I am just ignoring it, pulling it back most days. Won’t get it cut until we’re back in Tucson. It’s easier to manage in a ponytail.

I stare at the Amish too – wondering how I’d do in that life. I don’t think I’d do very well …..

Are you thinking of New Hope? We didn’t get there, but I was there often while we lived there. It was a great place to stroll around for a day.

Take care of yourself! Thanks for following our travels and asking all the questions! I love it.
      M

  3. You are living the “dream life”. Where do you park an RV in NY?

    • We are trying to give NYC a very wide berth!  We’re staying in Accord, Pulaski and Lake George.  All should be beautiful spots.  Pulaski campground is right on Lake Ontario, I’ve never been in Lake Ontario before, so very excited to dip my toes in!
Hope one of our trips across NC allows us to see you!  Take care.M

  4. Wonderful for you to to be with all your loved ones. Philly a great town I worked there as a consultant for many years..Bayada in Moorestown. Sang at the Orginal Opera House and now our Granddaughter Katrina is moving there on a Opera Scholarship at Temple for her Masters so we will be up there now and again!
So glad you had time with Family and Friends. Your Tucson Friends miss you very much! Be safe on the Road!

    • We’re now starting to get near the BIG CITIES – so we’re being very careful on the road! Pete’s daughter is in Manayunk. I wonder if they will cross paths! Miss you!

  5. You are so blessed!!!
