Unexpected celebrations

We spent the last two weeks in North Carolina.  If you follow the blogs, you’re thinking “Wait, haven’t they been to North Carolina before?”  Yes, you are correct.   The Big Rig has been in North Carolina four years in a row.  I think it might know it’s way here by itself.  Both Pete and I have family and friends here, so there are many wonderful reasons to route ourselves through NC.

This NC visit was planned more like a drive-by, as we continue our journey South for the winter – wasting a little time, waiting for hurricane season to end.  We stopped for some beach time near New Bern and then a few days with my cousins in Wilmington.    Just before we got here, my cousins daughter got engaged, and the happy couple decided to take advantage of our drive-by and get married in the backyard by – you guessed it – Pastor Pete!  My cousin and her friends put together a beautiful reception in no time, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect, Pastor Pete and the couple made the union official and the day was wonderful.  Now the happy couple are happy newlyweds!  Unexpected celebrations are the best! Congratulations Alex & Hunter!

We head out today, hugging family goodbye – but, it’s North Carolina, so we know we’ll be back!  It’ll be a quick overnight in South Carolina, then onto Georgia.  We have a few days of R&R planned on Jekyll Island.  I’m excited about the Sea Turtle Institute!

  1. Such a happy blessing !!!

  2. What a great surprise, looks like a great time! Love the Barbie & military Ken cake topper! 😉

    • Barbie and Military Ken were fun. Pete was honored and we were so happy we got to be part of their day. With this RV life, I never know where we’re going to be when fun life-events happen. So this one worked out perfectly! Hugs to you and Lee!

  3. How lovely. What a gift for all of you. We’ll have to spend more time in the Carolinas. It looks incredible. We have friends there who play golf!

    • I really do enjoy NC. The mountains. The coast. It’s beautiful. It’s East Coast, but slower than DC, Philly, NY pace.

  4. If you get a chance, say Hi to John and Penny on St. Simons Island!

    • Hi Judi! When we booked Jekyll, I mapped it to St Simons, thinking of John & Penny. But, as you know, in this area, sometimes there is no easy way to get from one place to another, there is so much water and not enough bridges! We won’t get to see them this trip, we’re only there for 3 days. Last time we passed through Jekyll, it rained the whole time. This time it’s supposed to be sunny, so I am excited to explore the island! Hugs to you and Dave.

  5. So wonderful your trip has been.
    Safe travels!😎😍
